FDPR MANAGES VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION AWARD FOR THE TERRY FARREL FUND

FDPR is proud to announce the completion of a two-day comprehensive recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters program provided for the TERRY FARREL FUND  in Nassau County NY. The outline was funded through the NYS  Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Grant Program.

This $25,000 no-match grant was hosted by the Fund was obtained by the TFF and the Nassau County FF Juniors. The program called for a full day of Junior activities and one full day of fire service administration training including HR, OSHA, press relations and other administrative functions. “We identified that there are two main issues when dealing with volunteer firefighter R&R on Long Island. The first is the absolute need to strengthen Junior Firefighter Programs as they are a source of major recruitment streams. The second is that our junior officer corps is lacking in many inter-personal skills associated with basic EEO, HR, press relations, and in dealing with people. Day two was focused on that population.”

“We hope the TFF was able to put our program and guests into a workable session and weekend”, but we were not involved in its ultimate delivery.
